Literature Text

You didn’t trust her with your rubber vessels
Yet you followed her down the rabbit hole
Is it safer beneath ground?
Are the hallucinations friendlier when you’re high

Faster now, running through tunnels all in good time
In good company, saying
“Alice is so much prettier unzipped”
And when the Cheshire’s smile reminds you of death
In a garden of roses and pearls
Swallow down another caterpillar
Melt to invisible drums, singing
“Alice is so much nicer without a throat”

But she’s got pretty eyes
Eyes you’d like to possess
Stare into and get lost in
Like the folds of her ashen dress

A V shaped pattern below
Where darkness dare not reside
And where stories never really end
Or carry heavy meaning
A card dealt in Heaven’s name
Her roses painted red
You can’t trust a child with your heart
Yet you carry the bruises gained from the long drop down
Chasing after Alice
Destroyed Youth
